Dr Siobhan Daniels joins AltaBioscience as Non-Executive Director
AltaBioscience Ltd, a University of Birmingham spinout company operating in the areas of custom peptide synthesis and amino acid analysis, announces the appointment of Dr Siobhan Daniels to the Board of Directors with immediate effect. Siobhan is Spinout Development Manager at University of Birmingham Enterprise and joins AltaBioscience Ltd a non-executive director.
Siobhan has a BSc and PhD in Chemistry from Aston University and prior to joining University of Birmingham Enterprise she worked on commercialisation of intellectual property with UMI3 at the University of Manchester. Prior to her role with UMI3, Siobhan worked as a senior scientist at a company that started life as a University spinout and is now listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange. It was this role that sparked her interest in university technology transfer and in particular university spinouts.

She brings a wealth of experience in commercialisation and development of university spinout companies. As a spinout from the University of Birmingham, we look forward to working together to grow the company. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Dr James Wilkie for his contribution to the company. James has stepped down from the board on his retirement from the University of Birmingham.”
Dr Siobhan Daniels said, “I am pleased to be joining AltaBioscience and to be able to maintain the link between the company and its origins at the University of Birmingham’s School of Biosciences. The company is actively working in several important areas including synthesis of custom peptides to SARS-CoV-2 to aid projects on COVID19 and I look forward to working with the company to expand its operations.”
AltaBioscience was established in 1973 and provides analytical laboratory services in addition to custom synthesis of peptides, DNA oligos and both polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies, and testing services including amino acid analysis and protein sequencing and other mass spec analytical techniques.
