Peptide library and microarrays
In addition to our histone peptide sets and microarrays and catalogue peptide products available to purchase from our online store, we offer a custom peptide library and microarray service for the development of libraries tailored to your specific requirements.
A well-designed peptide library can be an invaluable tool for researchers in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and life sciences. With our wide range of peptide library options, including synthesised peptide mixtures, Episcan peptide libraries, and peptides immobilised on slides, we are pleased to support your research for fast, efficient and cost-effective studies.
With over 50 years of experience in peptide synthesis and analysis, working with us will allow you not only to access high-quality peptide libraries, but also to benefit from our expertise and to ensure the successful completion of your project in a timely manner.
Peptide library options
Peptide Mixtures
A single peptide made with specified positions having degenerate sites or mixtures of amino acids. For example, the peptide sequence LEYASXFE where X can be a mixture of several amino acids, e.g. Ser, phosSer, Gly.
Large numbers of individual peptides
Up to 576 peptides can be produced in one synthesis batch using the AltaBioscience Episcan technology. Ideal for epitope scanning, AltaBioscience designed and built the EpiScan II instrumentation to enable the synthesis of large numbers of peptide arrays/libraries/sets at a very low cost.
- Primarily intended for screening and epitope scanning.
- From 48 to 576 peptides produced in one synthesis batch, freeze-dried, and ready for use.
- Supplied in 8 x 12 microtitre tray format, deep well microtitre trays or individually numbered 1.2 ml tubes
- Both C-terminal acids or amides in any synthesis set
- N-terminal acetylation, biotinylation, dyes etc
- Unusual amino acids can be incorporated
- QC by mass spectrometry on at least 10% of the peptides per batch
- Estimated yields of 0.5 – 2 mg of each peptide
- Directly compatible with our microarray spotting system or any other robotic device
The Episcan software used can handle either individual sequences or scan a protein, automatically generating overlapping peptides.
Peptide microarrays
Peptide microarrays are produced through direct interfacing with AltaBioscience’s high-throughput Episcan peptide synthesis system. The peptides are then printed onto glass slides coated with specific substrates directly from the microtitre trays used during the peptide synthesis process. This enables efficient and accurate production of large numbers of immobilised peptides on slides for a wide range of applications, including protein-protein interactions, antibody screening and antigen-antibody studies.
- Up to 192 different peptides per slide, each peptide printed in duplicate
- Direct copy of the 96 well arrangement on the slide
- Highly specific binding allows precise peptide orientation on the surface
- The use of a spacer between the peptide and the binder molecule ensures high peptide availability
- Most of the common peptide modifications can be used in the microarray set
- Slides are compatible with most imaging systems
A range of ready-to-ship histone microarrays and sets can be purchased directly from our online shop. They have been developed to enable testing and scanning of multiple peptides for various applications. Studies where these products have been successfully applied include epigenetic studies, protein-peptide interactions, and histone peptide applications.
